Navigating a Regional Center of Medical Excellence

Every moment matters when your health is on the line.
In your journey toward wellness, it’s critical to find the right people to guide you through assessment, diagnosis and treatment. The journey is hard enough as it is, without traveling to faraway doctors or waiting for distant decisionmakers.
Luckily, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin contain a wealth of cutting-edge medical practitioners. From world-class hospitals to small clinics that embrace innovations, our region’s medical professionals are leading the way – and they’re investing in the latest advancements.
What’s more, they’re doing it right here, without the oversight of faraway leadership. At our locally owned, locally controlled regional hospitals, the community and the patient are never far from mind. Same goes for the dozens of local medical practices that provide critical care in all sorts of specialties, from orthopedics to cardiac health, family medicine and everything in between.
This year’s Annual Healthcare Guide shines a light on the valuable contributions of our local medical establishment, and it introduces you to some of the cutting-edge care that’s available right here in our region.
In your hands is this region’s most powerful guide to the professionals and facilities serving southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Its highlights on top hospitals, cutting-edge clinics and leading practitioners are here to help you and your family to find the best care possible.
Our profiles on area health systems explore some of the region’s top locally controlled hospitals and the factors that keep them on the leading edge. Their tight regional focus means they’re continuing to invest in the services and quality care that matter most to this region while also embracing some of the latest medical advances.
Outside the hospital, incredible innovations are happening in our region’s specialized clinics. These smaller organizations are tightly focused on specialized, individualized care, treatments and equipment that get to the root of your health concerns. They’re driven by physicians who embrace the latest tools and techniques, and their local ownership means they’re all the more focused on you, the patient.
Our Annual Physicians Directory brings it all together in a list of hundreds of area physicians, from general practice family physicians and hospitalists to a wide variety of medical specialties. Keep it handy for the next time you or a loved one needs to find a physician by name, specialty or affiliated medical center.
The journey toward wellness isn’t just about hospitals and doctors, of course. A good dose of prevention goes a long way toward keeping you and your family free from disease. Our story on walking clubs takes a closer look at how a simple, daily activity provides a critical tool for achieving balance in mind, body and spirit.
