World Music Showcase

Tony Award-Winning Play: “Red”
March 31, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Artists’ Ensemble, in special partnership with Rockford Art Museum, present a memorable one-night-only performance of the Tony Award-winning play, “Red,” by John Logan. In the play, it’s 1958 and painter Mark Rothko (Vrtol) has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art. As he and his assistant work feverishly on a series of murals for the exclusive Four Seasons restaurant, questions arise; “What’s art? And who gets to decide anyway?”. Rothko faces the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing. Rockford Art Museum, Rockford, (815) 394-5004, artistsensemble.org.
