Kishwaukee College wants to make a difference in a student’s life, by offering the learning opportunities of a big college with the value and experience of a community college.
Located in Malta, between Rochelle and DeKalb, on Rte. 38, Kishwaukee is home to more than 10,500 students from around northern Illinois. More than 65 degree and certificate options help students to achieve future success in a number of important fields.
Kishwaukee College provides the strong foundation students need to transfer to four-year universities, which saves them substantial tuition costs. Many students also find it’s the perfect opportunity to earn degrees and certificates that prepare them to enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills to start on a fast track to success.
Classes are taught by instructors who are dedicated to teaching students in a comfortable, yet rigorous, classroom environment. Students learn from dedicated and knowledgeable teachers, and many members of the school’s faculty have been recognized, at the state, regional and national levels, for excellence in their fields. Nearly 70 percent of all faculty members have a master’s degree, and almost 10 percent hold doctorates. Smaller class sizes allow students to get the one-on-one attention they need for maximum success.
Outside the classroom, students have even more opportunities for growth. More than 30 on-campus student organizations help them to connect with each other and to develop themselves through leadership positions; many of these organizations partner with community groups. Students also can study abroad in places like Carlow, Ireland; Canterbury, England; Seville, Spain; Costa Rica and Australia. Some students in occupational programs can even join in state and national competitions against the best in their fields.
In their spare time, athletic students can join the Kougars sports teams, part of the Arrowhead Conference in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Men can join Kishwaukee’s soccer, basketball and baseball teams, while women can join the volleyball, basketball and softball teams.
Kishwaukee College is much more than an educational institution that grants degrees and certificates – it is a place where an adult can return to school with a support system, where residents can prepare for the GED exam, where young adults can explore service and leadership and where students develop the life skills they need to become successful.
Kishwaukee College is real opportunity. ❚
