Modern Forge Companies LLC, a manufacturer of close-tolerance, near-net forgings, plans to consolidate three of its plants into a facility on Rockford’s Kishwaukee Avenue. The move, which affects two plants currently located in Rockford, is expected to deliver up to 30 jobs.

The Rockford Area Economic Development Council (RAEDC) has launched a Qualified Sites program to help site selectors identify shovel-ready industrial and commercial park locations around northern Illinois. The program draws together developers, local officials, utilities and consultants for marketing efforts.

The City of Rockford has annexed land at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Riverside Boulevard where MercyRockford Health System plans to build a new hospital. The new campus is expected to open in 2019.

Bourn & Koch, a Rockford-based manufacturer of precision machine tools, has named Terry V. Derrico as company president, Kerry Koch as CFO, Greg Champion as vice president of sales and marketing, and Peter Mischler as engineering manager.

Officials from RAEDC and Larson & Darby Group promoted Illinois and Rockford at the Hannover Messe trade fair in Germany this April. During the four-day event, the local team met with 43 companies to highlight economic opportunities in Rockford.

A package designed by Heinzeroth Marketing Group in Rockford has won the Whole Package Award from the National Retail Hardware Association. A specialist in packaging and point-of-sale merchandising, Heinzeroth’s winning package was created for a professional-grade sprinkler system that’s sold to homeowners.

Nearly 60 percent of Rockford-area businesses reported an increase in sales over the past year, and about 43 percent expect to hire over the next three years, according to RAEDC’s latest Voice of the Customer survey. Nearly one third of companies surveyed said they plan to invest in growth projects.

During an April hearing in Springfield, Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey urged the state’s House Revenue and Finance Committee to extend the River Edge Historic Tax Credit. It provides financial incentives for the redevelopment of riverfront areas in Rockford and four other communities, and has been used on projects including Prairie Street Brewhouse and the Rockford Trust Building.

Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville has launched an associate degree program in Agribusiness Science and Technology at its Monroe, Wis., campus. The program is aimed at students who aspire to run their own agribusiness or consult with such operations.

Ipsen, a Cherry Valley-based specialist in thermal processing technologies, has successfully built and tested the gas-quenching system in its new ARGOS heat-treating system. The ARGOS system reportedly produces higher surface and core hardness than traditional quenching systems.

ABC Supply, a Beloit-based distributor of external building products, has acquired the assets of T&C Supply, a roofing products distributor in Flagstaff, Ariz. The growing Beloit company has also won its 10th Gallup Great Workplace Award, which recognizes companies for employee engagement.

Comply 365, a Beloit-based mobile software company, has landed its first maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) contract and netted deals with 12 new or existing international clients during the first quarter of 2016.

Greenlee Textron, a Rockford-based provider of professional tools, has released two semi-con cable scoring tools ideal for applications in underground primary distribution cable. The company has also released a new crimping tool designed to improve die selection process and reduce poor wire connections caused by inaccurate crimping.

Bergstrom Inc., a Rockford-based manufacturer of climate control systems for commercial vehicles, has launched a business unit catering to the specialty vehicle industry. This division provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning solutions to OEM and aftermarket customers.

Wahl Home Products, a Sterling-based manufacturer of personal care and grooming products, has launched the Color Pro Clipper, a cordless hair clipper that provides up to an hour of use on one charge. The unit comes with an optional cord and a series of color-coded hair-trimming combs.
