FROM BELOIT HEALTH SYSTEM:
BELOIT – The 23rd annual Beloit Wellness Biathlon is scheduled for Saturday, May 19. This event is an icon for stateline athletes since it’s one of the longest running Biathlons in the area. The event takes place on Beloit Memorial Hospital grounds and is sponsored by Beloit Health System, M & I Bank, and the Stateline YMCA.
The Biathlon recruits both highly trained athletes and those who just want to challenge themselves on the trek that includes a 1.8 mile run/walk, 11-mile bike race, and ends with another 1.8 mile run/walk. The event can be done individually, or a team of three people can each do a separate leg of the challenge. The event starts at 9 a.m., with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.
“This is a great event that has continually attracted participants from a multi-state area,” says Larry Bergen, of Beloit Health System and coordinator of the Biathlon. “We are proud to be celebrating our 23rd anniversary with the same three sponsors who helped develop the event and have continued to support it.”
There are male, female and team divisions. Entry fee is $40 before May 19 and $45 on race day. The team entry fee is $90 before May 19 and $105 on race day. Entry forms can be obtained by contacting Stateline Family YMCA at 608-365-2261. Your fee included the race, T-shirt and refreshments. There is a limit of 300 participants so early registration is encouraged.
In addition, the race needs volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Larry Bergen at 608-290-4832.
